App Store / Check your account first
Check your storefront and account region
Shadowrocket is not available in the mainland China storefront. Whether you can see and purchase Shadowrocket depends first on the country or region associated with your Apple ID.
App Store content depends on the account used for Media & Purchases, not just your device’s current location or system language. After you tap the product page button on this page, the storefront in the web address may differ from the one opened on your device. Check the account, price, and purchase prompts shown in the App Store itself. Seeing the product information on the web does not guarantee that your current account can complete the purchase.
How to check your account’s country or region
- Open Settings on your device, tap the Apple ID account area at the top, and confirm that you’re viewing your own account.
- Go to Media & Purchases and select View Account. If prompted to verify your identity, complete the process in the system interface.
- Open Country/Region to check the region associated with your account. To learn how to change it, continue to Change Country or Region on that page.
- Return to the App Store and check the account page and product page purchase details to make sure you’re using the intended account.
Changing your region is not simply a display setting. Your account balance, existing subscriptions, Family Sharing status, and payment method may affect whether you can make the change. Follow the conditions shown on the system page at the time. This guide explains where to find the settings but cannot guarantee that your account can change regions. If you see a restriction, read the message and address the relevant account requirements instead of repeatedly submitting the same request.
If you’ve already purchased the app, first look for the purchase under the original account before considering changes to another account. The account used for iCloud may differ from the one used for Media & Purchases, so seeing the same name at the top of Settings is not enough to confirm. Make a note of which of your Apple IDs you use for the purchase so you can find the app on another device later.
Verify the official listing / Check three details
Developer, official icon, and app ID
Similar names don’t necessarily mean it’s the same app. Before purchasing, check each of these three details instead of relying on the title in search results.
Shadowrocket
Rocket icon with a blue-and-purple outline on a white background
- Developer name
The product page should list Shadow Launch Technology Limited as the developer. Check the full name, not just a few similar words.
- Official app icon
Compare the App Store icon with the official icon shown here. Use the icon as one identification check, along with the developer name and app ID.
- App ID: 932747118
The product page linked from the button on this page identifies the app with
id932747118. The app ID identifies the product; it is not a version number or purchase order number.
If search results show several apps with similar names, open each product page and check the developer name, then compare the icon. If any detail doesn’t match, return to the product page linked from this guide and check again. Don’t assume that wording such as “compatible” or a similar-looking icon means it’s the same product. Before paying, check the product name and account once more to confirm you’re purchasing Shadowrocket.
Below are two official screenshots uploaded by the developer to the App Store, showing the Home and Add Server screens. The screenshots retain the English interface labels. On your device, the layout, system status bar, and visible content may differ depending on the device and app state. Use the screenshots as interface references, not as a substitute for checking the three identifying details above. They also don’t mean that usable server information is included after installation.
Not Connected on Home means there was no active connection at the time. Config under Global Routing is a traffic-handling mode, not a purchase status. Type, Host, Port, Password, and Method in Add Server are for entering details for a server you already have. Use your own information for these fields. Don’t copy example values from screenshots or change settings you don’t understand just to make the screen look the same.
Device / iPhone
Install and open Shadowrocket on iPhone
Purchase and install the app from the App Store first, then import your own configuration in the app. Refer to the App Store page for system requirements.
On your iPhone, open the App Store product page using the button on this page. First verify the three official listing details, then check the compatibility information. Use your own Apple ID and follow the App Store prompts to confirm the purchase. The store displays the purchase amount, payment method, and any account verification requirements. After confirming, wait for installation to finish and tap Open to launch Shadowrocket. If the download stalls, note the App Store message rather than looking for payment options in the app settings.
When you first open the app, take a moment to identify the Home screen, then prepare your existing subscription or server details. Get your subscription link from your service provider; its validity period, access credentials, and server details are provided by the service provider and are not generated by purchasing the app. If you already have a subscription link, continue to the Subscribe import guide. If you have details for a single server, enter them in the fields for the appropriate Type under Add Server.
System permission on your first connection
When you first try to connect, the system may ask for permission to add a VPN configuration. This is a system step that lets the app create the relevant network configuration; it is not another purchase. Confirm that the request was initiated by the Shadowrocket app you just opened, read the prompt, and follow the system steps. If your device passcode or identity verification is required, complete it in the system authorization screen. Don’t enter your device passcode in the Password field under Add Server.
If you haven’t granted permission yet, you can return to check your server details and try connecting again. Successful installation, system authorization, and server availability are three separate checks: opening the app only confirms that installation is complete. Connecting also depends on your existing service details, current network, and Global Routing settings. Follow the first-use guide to check each step, rather than changing several options at once and making the cause harder to identify.
Device / iPad
Install on iPad and check App Store compatibility
A single purchase with the same Apple ID lets you install the app on compatible iPhone and iPad devices. Refer to the App Store page for purchase eligibility.
If you bought Shadowrocket on iPhone, first open the account page in the App Store on your iPad and check that the Apple ID used for Media & Purchases is the one used for the original purchase. Then look for Shadowrocket under Purchased. If you find the original purchase, use the redownload option to install it; you don’t need to make a new purchase just because you’re using an iPad. If the page still shows a price, pause and check the account and purchase history first.
The wider display on iPad may arrange lists and settings differently from iPhone. Use interface labels such as Home, Config, Add Server, and Settings to find what you need instead of relying on fixed screenshot coordinates. Interpret server fields according to the selected Type. Seeing more content on a larger screen doesn’t mean you need to enter parameters that aren’t relevant to your protocol.
Keep purchase eligibility separate from configuration on your device. After installing Shadowrocket on iPad, check whether your existing servers, subscription, and Config are ready. Seeing the app on the Home Screen doesn’t mean your data has been restored. If you need to import your setup, use a subscription link or configuration backup you saved yourself. Verify the connection on the new device before deciding whether to remove data from the old one.
Restore / Find your purchase first
Restore after changing devices or reinstalling
You can redownload the app from Purchased with the Apple ID used for the original purchase. You won’t be charged again for the same app. Check your configuration separately.
Redownload the app from the App Store
- Open the App Store on your new device and go to your account page. Make sure you’re signed in with the Apple ID used to purchase Shadowrocket.
- Go to Purchased and find Shadowrocket. The section name may differ between system versions; use the label shown on your account page.
- Select the redownload option for Shadowrocket and wait for installation to finish before opening the app.
- Check your existing configuration, import the subscription or server details you saved, then test the connection.
If you can’t find the purchase, first check whether you’ve switched the account used for Media & Purchases. Then check your purchase history and current storefront availability. Don’t rely on the price button in search results as the only way to tell whether restoration worked. The account that made the original purchase is the one whose purchase history to check; seeing the app icon in a device backup doesn’t mean the current purchasing account owns it.
Reinstalling the app doesn’t restore all your data
The App Store handles app access and purchase eligibility; it won’t recreate your service provider’s subscription link. Before changing devices, save your subscription details securely and back up Config and server parameters as needed. Keep links and configurations that contain access credentials somewhere you control, and don’t post them in public screenshots, reviews, or shared documents. A server display name alone usually isn’t enough to re-enter the fields needed to connect.
After importing your setup on the new device, check that your servers are present, then verify Global Routing and the current Config. Don’t delete data from the old device until you’ve confirmed that the new one can connect; the old setup can help you compare details. For more on subscriptions, individual servers, and configuration files, see the subscription and server management guide and restore the type of data you actually saved.
Whether Family Sharing applies depends on the eligibility shown on the App Store page and in your family account. Family Sharing purchase access is different from an individual account’s purchase history, and it doesn’t mean the app’s server configuration will be shared. If you see an eligibility or region message, check the App Store account first instead of paying again to work around it.
Price / Two separate costs
One-time app purchase and service plans
The US storefront lists the app for a one-time purchase of $2.99. Check the App Store page for the current price; other storefronts show prices in their local currencies.
App purchase ≠ service plan
The purchase price is for the Shadowrocket app itself. It’s a one-time payment, not a monthly app fee. A one-time app purchase does not include a service plan: buying the app won’t provide a subscription link, server address, or service provider account.
This is the official Shadowrocket website and guide. It does not provide, sell, or recommend servers or subscriptions. Before using the app, have your own subscription or server details ready; get your subscription link from your service provider.
Use the amount and currency shown on the App Store’s final confirmation screen when you purchase. Don’t assume the US dollar price in one storefront is the amount charged in every region. Follow the store’s prompts for payment, taxes, and available payment methods. The price on this page explains the type of purchase; it isn’t a substitute for the price shown at checkout and doesn’t guarantee that the price will stay the same.
Check your service information for any validity period, data allowance, or access limits set by your service provider. If the app opens normally but a subscription update returns no servers or a server won’t connect, don’t assume the app purchase has expired. First check that the subscription link is complete and the service is active, then follow the error message in the app. Don’t repeatedly purchase the same app on the App Store to try to fix a connection issue.
App updates are delivered through the App Store. Check the automatic update options in your device’s App Store settings, or look for available updates in your store account. Updating the app and updating a Subscribe entry are different: the former updates the client, while the latter refreshes server details in an existing subscription. Identify which one has changed before taking action to avoid unnecessary settings changes.
Purchase FAQs
Quick answers: downloads and purchase restoration
Check the App Store message first, then verify your account. Expand a question below for details.
Why can’t I find Shadowrocket on the App Store?
Shadowrocket is not available in the mainland China storefront. The country or region associated with your Apple ID determines which App Store content you can see. Go to Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases → View Account → Country/Region to check your account’s region, then visit the App Store product page linked on this page. Availability for purchase depends on what the current storefront displays.
What if I can see the product page but can’t download the app?
Note the exact App Store message, then check the account used for Media & Purchases, storefront region, payment status, available device storage, and compatibility requirements. Complete any pending account verification in Settings or the App Store. Troubleshoot app downloads separately from subscription connection issues.
Do I have to pay again when I get a new iPhone?
On the App Store, sign in with the Apple ID used for the original purchase, find Shadowrocket under Account → Purchased, and download it again. You won’t be charged again for the same app. Reinstalling the app and restoring its configuration are separate steps; after installation, you’ll still need to import your own subscription or server details.
Can I install Shadowrocket on my iPad if I bought it on iPhone?
Yes. After purchasing with the same Apple ID, you can install Shadowrocket on compatible iPhone and iPad devices. On your iPad, check which account is signed in to the App Store, then look under Purchased. Refer to the App Store page for system requirements and purchase eligibility. Server and rule configurations must be set up separately.
Is Shadowrocket available for Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision?
The compatibility section of the same App Store product page lists Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision. Check the product information in the App Store on the device you plan to use. Refer to the App Store page for system requirements and whether universal purchase applies.
The app interface is in English. Where should I start?
Start by identifying Home, Add Server, Global Routing, and Config. The official screenshots on this page retain the English interface labels, with explanations provided in Chinese. After installation, prepare your own subscription or server details, then follow the guide to import them, select Global Routing, and test the connection. You don’t need to change Settings options one by one right away.
